Hello everyone !
Today we're going to talk about the phrase "setting the table".
Daily expression that is familiar to us but incorrect.
We should say “put the table”, since our tables no longer travel around the house.
In the Middle Ages, rooms did not have very distinct functions as they do today, and the same room could serve as a common room, dining room and bedroom.
Also, more often than not, we "set the table" at mealtime, that is, we brought a large board and trestles.
Hence the use, among the lords, of beautiful tablecloths intended to hide the poverty of the furniture.
Good day and good game ;)
