JJV's Offs

Hello everyone!

Welcome to a new opus of "JJV Offs"!

" Necessity is the mother of invention."

Just like inventions, starting a business also requires a lot of work and patience. We arrive with a concept and a precise idea without knowing if it will be well-received.

For us, the vision is generally quite clear, and we know what we want to develop, why, but not always how…^^ Then, through sheer effort and patience, we finally bring to fruition what was initially just a project.

And that's where things get serious. We set up and launch our project. It takes shape, and we discover the first challenges of the project in the face of reality. Sometimes it works, but most of the time, we try and try again and again until it works.

Things don't just happen on their own. Having projects is good, but working hard to accomplish them is true personal success. Because if we wait for things to happen by themselves, they never will.

When I started the shop, I was told I'd be closed down in two years… 8 years later, I'm still here ;) I was also told that the events wouldn't be popular and that there was no point in persevering. Eight years after opening, I'm lucky enough to have contracts renewed every year in Vaison, in France, and even a little bit in Europe. :)

When you have a vision you believe in, there will always be people who don't believe in it and try to discourage you, but that's when you have to hold on and believe even more strongly… ;)

Good day and good game! ;)

Nautilusisland

2 words game Nautilus Island

Hello everyone !

Today we're going to talk about Nautilus Island!

Intrepid adventurers, for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up, for 20 to 30 minutes, explore and find as much treasure as possible!

You are shipwrecked on a mysterious, deserted, volcanic island. After a storm, you stumble upon a beached submarine, the Nautilus, devoid of its crew.

You must explore its various nooks and crannies to salvage as many items as possible to ensure your survival and repair the submarine so you can leave the island before the other castaways.

On the first turn only, the designated first player starts, followed by the other players clockwise.

On subsequent turns, players play in the order determined by the position of their Castaway token in the Nautilus: the Castaway closest to the rear of the Nautilus always plays next.

On the first turn, players place their Castaway token on top of the Nautilus, facing the column of cards of their choice. This column must not be occupied by an opponent's Castaway token. During subsequent turns, each player moves their pawn to the opposite side of the Nautilus, facing a column of cards of their choice, excluding the column they were in on the previous turn or the column(s) occupied by an opponent's Castaway pawn on that side of the Nautilus.

Once their Castaway pawn has been moved, the player performs one of two actions:

• Collect items: The player adds the top card of each pile in the column facing their Castaway pawn to their hand. If the pile is face down, they do not reveal this card to the other players. There is no limit to the number of cards a player can hold.

• Store items in their camp: The player places up to as many cards of the same color as there are piles in the column facing their Castaway pawn (1, 2, or 3).

The cards are placed in front of the player by color collection (one color per column). A player cannot have multiple collections of the same color.

The number of cards played is visible to everyone. The player then takes the Bonus token corresponding to the color they just played, if available, and places it on top of their collection. They can then complete that same collection by taking a Porthole token.

Then it's the next player's turn, and so on. At the end of a turn, when all players have moved their Shipwrecked pawn to the same side of the Nautilus, a new turn begins, starting with the player closest to the back of the Nautilus, and so on until the end of the game.

The game ends when a column on the board is empty. Players finish their current turn and then take one final turn. During this final turn, players can position themselves facing an empty column, but only to play up to as many cards as there are spaces in that column.

They then proceed to scoring and add up the points from their (1) Bonus tokens, (2) Porthole tokens, and (3) Nautilus Treasure cards. Any other cards still in hand are worthless.

The player with the most points wins the game. In case of a tie, the player whose Shipwrecked token is closest to the stern of the Nautilus wins.

Good day and good game ;)
