Wise Guys is a fast-to-learn, hard-hitting area control board game where you play as one of four rival gangs looking to strike it rich as "Rum Runners" on the tough streets of Chicago at the height of the Roaring Twenties . .
In each turn, players ride, negotiate, talk, and fight to control the places where they buy and sell alcohol, help politicians get elected and get aid in return, or betray rival gangs. Negotiate, threaten and ally with rival gangs when it suits your needs, but beware of the inevitable knife in the back...
For six turns, players take turns moving to locations in the city represented by the grid of cards in the center of the board. Different locations provide access to materials, money, or influence that members of the player's gang can "acquire" through trade, profiting from ownership in their territory, or exploiting parts of the city under the control of a rival gang.
All players must maintain some discretion, as selling too much in a single round will attract unwanted attention or saturate the town with alcohol - and your fellow mobsters won't be too happy about the loss of profits. The gang with the most money at the end of the game wins.
